The Health Sector in a State of Transformation

As we often say in our field of work, there is never a dull moment. This year was no exception. The election of a new government last June led to a major transformation. This is nothing new for the Centre de santé communautaire de l’Estrie (CSCE), as it has undergone many reforms since its creation in the early 1990s. For each of these reforms, our organization succeeded in better responding to the health care needs of francophones in Eastern Ontario. This new wave of transformation is creating opportunities and challenges that will once again be addressed by your Community Health Centre (CHC). It is with confidence and conviction that we will actively participate in this transformation to improve the programs and services provided to our communities.

As you read through this annual report, you will see how committed we are to improving the health, well-being and quality of life of our clients and the communities we serve. We would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank the staff at the CSCE and its numerous volunteers. Their dedication and commitment make a tangible difference and contribute every day to ensuring that Every One Matters.

In November 2018, the CSCE in Embrun moved to a new location at 649 Notre Dame Street. The CSCE is very proud to provide this ever-growing community with a permanent site that is better suited to its programs and services. Among other things, this move was made in response to numerous requests from our clients for better accessibility and additional parking spaces. In light of strict budgetary restrictions, the CSCE once again had to be creative in the absence of additional financial support. Following a lengthy tendering process supported by the brokerage firm Colliers International, the CSCE signed a 20-year lease with The Co-operators Phil Ryan & Associates’ branch in Embrun.
