Active Life and Physical Activity

Fall Prevention

Did you know that loss of balance can cause a fall? One in three people aged 65 and older falls at least once a year.

A fall can have serious consequences:

  • Serious injuries;
  • Difficulty performing daily activities such as walking, cleaning, grocery shopping, or bathing;
  • Decreased social activities, increased isolation;
  • Loss of independence or even moving out of the home to a senior residence.

Join one of our prevention groups to learn simple and effective strategies to reduce your risk of falling and maintain your independence.

Get moving, for a better balance!

This exercise program was designed by CSCE health promoters for people aged 55 and older who want to improve their balance through increased physical strength.

The exercises do not involve jumping and are performed while seated on a chair or leaning on a chair if necessary. The program consists of three components: group exercises, home exercises, and home prevention.

Contact one of our health promoters for information on the dates and locations of this program.
