Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
The cardiac rehabilitation program has been offered at the Bourget location since 2018, in partnership with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI). Eligible individuals are generally referred by the UOHI following hospitalization for cardiac or vascular problems.
The team consists of a nurse specializing in cardiac rehabilitation and a kinesiologist (physical activity specialist).
Services
Participants in the program learn skills to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle for heart and blood vessel health. These skills enable them to gradually resume their daily activities and prevent their problems from worsening. The kinesiologist develops a personalized program that includes supervised exercise sessions, education, and advice for recovery.
The duration of the program can vary from a few weeks to several months, depending on the individual’s goals and needs.
